Just Through My Eyes

Filling the air were smells of coffee, leather, and men's cologne. Normal airport smells that I can't give a name were mixed in there too. Everybody just seemed busy with their cellular devices and digital sound. I finally found an empty seat, and while placing my carryon bag under my chair, pulled out my book. I had a couple hours to spend here so figured I could get a few pages read. So blocking all the smells and sounds out of my mind, I continued reading my book.
Time to board my flight had arrived. The announcing of my flight number and destination came over the intercom as I pulled my bag out from under my seat. The travelers I shared my gate with began gathering their stuff up too. I exchanged some smiles as I stepped in the line leading through the gate.
People have some interesting styles. When you find yourself in a big airport like Houston or Chicago you get a good mix of all sorts. I wondered who I'd get to sit by as I looked for my seat number. I found it between two good sized middle aged men. One looked very business-like with a Dell laptop, suit, tie, and nicely trimmed beard. The other was wearing shorts, a large printed T-shirt, Sanuks, and headphones attached to his iPad.
I began making judgments as people continued walking past me down the airplane aisle. Women with unkempt hair, probably just messed up by their travels walked by. Some kids, holding their Spiderman or Princess backpack, followed their parents to their seats. There seemed to be a majority of business looking men, flying probably being their most frequent form of travel.
I wondered what God sees when he looks at all of this. People he created, from all walks of life, all equal, sitting right beside each other, but in their own world. The only way we'll get to know how God sees is if we get to know their heart. He doesn't care what we wear, He looks right past our clothes. His eyes pierce right straight to our heart. He sees our dark, ugly, evil heart, or our broken, soft, caring, submitted heart. That's all that He looks at. It seems to me there are so many distractions all around. Things we think are important all the time don't actually really matter. Everybody sees things different. I guess it's called perspective. What a wonderful world this would be if we all seen each other through God's perspective.

It's not the smile, but what's spoken through your eyes and smile.
It's not what's said but how you made the person feel when you spoke.
