The Insecure Christian
Have you ever wondered if you are saved? I sure have! I have been reminded so many times of promises in the Bible to give me reason to fully have faith in the assurance of salvation. Faith is simple. That was easy to type, not so easy to comprehend.
I wondered some time ago when Jesus would have been created. I always figured he was when Mary bore him here on earth, but there are some accounts in the Bible where Jesus appeared before His time here on earth, such as in the furnace with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. "And the form of the fourth is like the Son of God." Daniel 3:25
John 1:1-2 says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God." These verses refer to Jesus, "the Word" as being with God, separate, yet with God "together".
Hebrews 1:8- 10 says, "But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath annointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands."
In these verses he addresses the Son as God and we believe in one God. Through my little research I believe that Jesus has existed since God ever has, since they together form our God. One article I read said that if Jesus had been created, like the angels were, his sacrifice for our sins would not have been good enough! Since he was God the sacrifice he made for our sins was sufficient. Someone told me that some people think that Lucifer wanted to be the sacrifice and that was what caused the war in heaven. Since he was created, it wouldn't have been good enough. That's just a speculation, but I thought it was interesting.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. To believe in Jesus for our salvation seems too simple, but too many times I think we complicate salvation.
2 Corinthians says, "my grace is sufficient for thee." There are so many other verses I could type out where God has promised us salvation or grace. Our minister here said that when we have been converted, we are in the same state of being as Adam and Eve were before they ate of the forbidden fruit. In other words, we are free before God and able to walk and talk together as Adam and Eve did in the garden.
As I have thought about this subject, I have been impressed with how my faith has grown. I think I had accepted how I perceived things and settled for something less then what God would like me to have. I believe He would like us to have that full assurance of salvation. I want to grasp it in faith and continue in this faith. Also in the knowledge that God took care of my sins long ago and knew exactly what it would take.
