Love Indeed

As my husband and I were eating breakfast the other day, I was thinking of the commandment that Jesus replied was the greatest of the law; To love. I thought of what significance do we miss when we think of loving. If Jesus deemed it the most important, are we practicing it as the most important? I began to think that we may just think of love as "not hating someone". I asked myself that maybe Jesus's words are more than the feeling, but in deed, in the love we show, and in the love we give. So if this is the greatest commandment, love in action must be essential!..Last evening we listened in to a boy's preparatory class. One of the boys quoted a scripture; 1 John 3:18 - "My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth." I was struck by the verse because I had that very thought on my heart that morning.
I read not long ago that the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference. We say we love, but do we really love? In the verb form of the word, do we actually love? Or are we indifferent? We say we care but do we practice that in deed and in truth? I think I have fallen very short in this area. I pray that God will give me strength, humility, and His love that I can love in deed.

This song came to me while I was doing dishes...Praise God for His loving touches!

Father God, just for today,
Help me to walk the narrow way.
Help me stand when I might fall,
Give me Your strength to hear Your call.

Chorus:
May my steps be worship, may my thoughts
Be praise, may my words bring honor to Your name.
May my steps be worship, may my thoughts
Be praise, may my words bring honor to Your name.
