Christmas Gift Giving

Ok I have so-and-so-and-so's name for Christmas....What do you think I should get?!?!...Do you think they'd like a scarf or sweater? Or do they not like stuff like that??...Should I get a plaque or rather something useful like a coffee mug...what about a magazine subscription...gift card?...what about perfume or body lotion??....ok now what about this other name I got?..( We normally draw names with our immediate family, our whole family including my grandpas, uncles, aunts, and cousins, and with our youth group)...I also like to get some of my closer friends a gift too and send cards to my friends that live out of state...Oh the turmoil of finding a gift!!!....What should I get?!?!...
To be honest I actually don't agonize a whole lot about getting a gift. It helps to be observant, which I consider myself pretty observant;) I'm so thankful because it's very helpful in a time like this. I love to give a gift and hear my friend say, "How did you know that's my favorite perfume??" or " I've been wanting one of these for a long time!! Thaaank Yooou!"...ok now I've said that, but when it comes to buying a gift for a guy that's a totally different story!...I'm lost...where do I start?...should it be a basketball?.. Would they even use a tool set?... I know a ten year old would love a pocket knife or laser light...or even Legos...what about an athletic gadget like a pedometer???:/  Wouldn't they love a shirt or wallet??...a watch?.....I don't know...
I think the most special gift to receive for a Christmas gift would be a meaningful card from one of my close friends that spoke of their thankfulness for our friendship...Isn't that what Christmas really is all about?...God loved us so He sent His son to redeem us and give us eternal life. His love is what we celebrate by giving gifts. We don't necessarily need to give so many many gifts!!.. Just showing our love and saying how much we mean to each other would be enough. Don't you think if we loved the way we should, Christmas would be more special? Our priorities seem to be getting to town before the sales end and coming up with the perfect menu. Do we stop long enough to realize what we're actually celebrating? I've realized that I haven't put much thought into all this in the past. Christmas is more meaningful to me now then it ever has been.
May all my friends and family have a blessed and meaningful holiday season;)
